State Police arrested a Wilkes Barre man after they found cocaine in his vehicle during a traffic stop. 22-year-old Carlos Morales-Vargas also had packaging materials, and about $13,500 in cash in his car when he was pulled over in Susquehanna County. He’s now behind bars, with bail set at $250,000.

Wilkes Barre Township Police are on the hunt for a man who was caught on video surveillance cutting a fence and breaking into Lowe’s, then making off with more than $2,300 worth of items, including eight Frigidaire microwaves. Police say he loaded all the microwaves into a silver van and then took off.

In Luzerne County, a man was arrested after police in Plymouth say he strangled his mother and then spit on officers. 43 year old Frank Shoppel also hit one officer in the face and shoulder as he was being taken into custody. He’s now in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on a $10,000 bail.

7 people have been arrested for stealing from a Walmart in Hazle Township, Luzerne County. Items taken include household goods, clothing, and even Chapstick. At least one of those arrested, was also charged with public intoxication.

A Thursday night 2 vehicle crash in Luzerne County… State police say it happened in the 3300 block of Laurel Run Road last night around 7. Troopers say one person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. There was no word on the fate of the other driver.

Legislation has been proposed in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives that would make harassing sports officials, such as umpires and referees, illegal. If it eventually becomes law, it would create a separate offense of harassment of a sports official.

A road closure could mean some lingering delays this morning. PennDOT shut down Interstate 81 southbound Thursday night, between exits 178 at Avoca and 175 at Dupont/Pittston to removed beams from the Suscon Bridge. The closure was supposed to be lifted today at 5am, but some delays could affect the morning commute.
