Wilkes Barre Bar Owner Threatened

A man who Wilkes Barre Police say, while drunk, pointed a gun at the head of a bar owner who tried to remove him for being too drunk, has been arrested. 44 year old Elvis Castanos of Wilkes-Barre, was locked up in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility with bail set at $25,000.

Bishop Joseph Bambera has ordained 8 men from Northeastern Pennsylvania as deacons at the Cathedral of Saint Peter in Scranton. Three of the new Deacons reside in Lackawanna County, two in Luzerne and Lycoming counties, and one of them is from Monroe County.

State police arrested a 16-year-old for stealing over $200 worth of items from the Hazle Township Walmart in Luzerne County. Charges have been filed through the juvenile district court.

If you use the Pennsylvania Turnpike, get set to pay more. Back in August, The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission approved a 5% toll increase for 2023 for all E-ZPass and Toll By Plate customers. The new rates will take effect on January 8th.

Pennsylvania State Police investigated 661 crashes statewide over the Christmas holiday weekend. 7 people died, 113 others were injured, and more than 100 drivers were arrested for DUI. Troopers also issued more than 451 speeding citations.

A Lackawanna County man is in custody after police say he threw a woman out of a moving car, and locked her in an Archbald motel room. 38 year old Thomas Swendensen of Eynon is being held in the Lackawanna County Prison on a $20,000 cash bail.

State police arrested two people including one fugitive who was hiding in a bathroom in Carbondale. 31 year old Antonio Flores of Childs was taken into custody. Troopers say a 44-year-old woman was also arrested after she was found with drug paraphernalia as she tried to hide Flores’ whereabouts.
