State Police Planning DUI Checkpoints

Pennsylvania State Police are gearing up for DUI checkpoints across the state the weekend of May 17-19. Sobriety patrols aim to deter drinking and driving with a “zero-tolerance” policy. Certain counties will be targeted due to high DUI-related incidents, but no exact locations are being released.

A stored away Halloween decoration is suspected to have caused a house fire in Luzerne County. Firefighters responded to Ivy Drive near Shavertown where a battery-operated decoration in storage caught fire. Thankfully, the resident inside noticed smoke in the attic and escaped unharmed.
