The Mayor of Wilkes-Barre has issued a “CODE BLUE,” warning for today and Thursday due to freezing temperatures. The Code Blue Emergency Shelter Program will be administered by Keystone Mission.

If you use natural gas, get set to pay a little less for it. On Tuesday, UGI Utilities announced that its natural gas rates will decrease on Friday. The average residential heating customer will see their monthly bill decrease about 20%, from $116.76 to $93.17.

The national average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Tuesday was $3.25 according to AAA. Here in Pennsylvania, the average price for a gallon of regular gas was around $3.56 on Tuesday. Locally, the average price of gas is hovering around $3.39 according to GasBuddy.

Winter officially arrives on December 21st, but it’s not even December quite yet, and we have already begun to deal with winter-like weather. Because of the snow squalls and windy weather, PennDOT is reminding drivers to slow down and be aware that road surfaces can get slick fast, and visibility can diminish quickly too.

In Scranton, city council has finalized the design for the Nay Aug Pool, and it will include a splash pad, activity pool and recreation pool. It comes at a cost of more than $6 Million. Construction will be done in phases. It’s expected to get underway sometime in 2025.
