Woman Jailed After Breaking Into Duryea Home

Police in Luzerne County took a woman into custody after they say she broke into a child’s room in Duryea to assault the child’s mother and her friend while they were in bed Wednesday night. 32 year old Daryl Pruitt-Merriwether is now in the Luzerne County Prison on $25,000 cash bail.

A former teacher from Lackawanna County has been sentenced on child porn charges. 46 year old Jaime Chorba, who taught physical education in the Valley View School District, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for producing a video of a minor child engaged in sexually explicit conduct on his cellphone.

A Wilkes-Barre man was sentenced Thursday to 2 years in prison for trafficking heroin in the area. 46 year old Corwin Garrett will also have to serve 6 years of supervised release after serving his time behind bars, for distributing between 80 and 100 grams of heroin.
